I Could Be So Much Thinner If It Wasn’t For All The Damn Commercials!

I’ll be sitting there, minding my own business, watching some inane TV show.
I’m not hungry, I’m not craving anything.
Then there’s a commercial.
I wasn’t even thinking about macaroni and cheese!
Didn’t even know I wanted macaroni and cheese until the commercial tells me I do!
And damn if I don’t start craving some mac & cheese!

CRAP!

Now I can’t stop thinking about macaroni and cheese.
How good and creamy it looked in that commercial.
And I just happened to have some Stouffer’s (which next to my mother’s homemade is the best mac & cheese ever! IMHO) in the freezer.

I hold out until the next commercial, but I know it’s coming.

It’s really too bad this kind of conditioning doesn’t work in reverse.
Wouldn’t it be great if they showed ‘willpower’ commercials?
And instead of getting up and hitting the kitchen, we’d get up and exercise!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
I just crack myself up!

  1. Yup, yup - somehow we all tune out when they show something that's good for us - well, all except for Squirt, who insists he should drink Spa water (a brand of bottled water over here) because the ad says drinking that means taking good care of yourself. LOL :)

I think I'll go for willpower and self-compassion, if you're taking orders ;)

  3. I'm safe. I don't like mac cheese. It's the Hershey commercials that get to me.

  4. I can actually ignore the commercials (oh except for the potatoe chips, and I just make sure I don't have them in the house), but what I can't ignore, is the husband with the metabolism that lets him snack ALL EVENING and not gain any pounds. He has been to the kitchen at least 6 times this evening for a snack, meanwhile I am doing my best to have no snacks after supper. It is not working.

Great advice eh? No idea what to do about Kim though, husbands don't turn off well, as you all probably know.

  6. You crack me up too!

I agree with PiaD...but...it is difficult if the other half is in the room. And there are just times that I LIKE it! Even the evil commercials.
