Waiting For the Other Shoe to Drop

The house is clean
The chores are all done
The bills are paid
The wash has been run
The refrigerator is full
The pantry is stocked
Call me pragmatic
But I am quite shocked!

This never happens
Not at the same time
And that’s why I’m sitting here
Searching for rhymes!

Extravagance

I’ve had my eye on this pink tractor bar stool for a while now. So, for my second extravagant purchase with my new found wealth (ie: social security, lol) I splurged and went for it!
I even assembled it myself!!
I’m living the high life now!

Husband Brings Me Flowers

I'm sensitive to flowers.
They make me sneeze.
It really cuts down on Husband's options when it comes to being romantic, but he finds ways to compensate.
He plucked this for me the other day.
Just a weed from our lawn.
But Isn't it pretty?
It looks like a miniature orchid.
Aw, for me?
Thank you!
Achoo!

The View From Where I Sit

Every night I sit on the couch in front of the TV watching the same inane shows.
I’m bored.
But do I do anything about it?
No.
I sit and think about how bored I am.

Sometimes I play scrabble against Tabley, sometimes I pick up a sketchbook and draw.
But it’s still the same ‘ole thing.
Same shows, same drawings, same perspective…..blah blah blah……
I’m boring myself about being bored!!

So I took off my glasses and did this sketch of my view from where I sit.
It’s silly and wonky and not very good, but for some reason I love it. (I especially like my hand!)

Sometimes it’s as simple as taking off your glasses to get a new point of view!

Throwback Thursday

There are only one or two pictures of my Great Grandfather.
He went out for a paper one evening and never returned.
The romantic in me wants to think he went west to become a miner and find his fortune….or lead a life robbing banks as a desperado, or maybe a gentleman gambler with ruffled shirts and fancy ivory handled guns.
I mean, with a mustache like that, how could he NOT?

WOYWW

This is what I did in the Flower Crazy Mini class I took last week.......
This was the first lesson...my usual 'go to' flower shapes. Some of my classmates said it would make a nice table cloth. So I went to Spoonflower and turned it into fabric. It's easy peasy to turn your art into repeating designs on fabric or wallpaper even wrapping paper.
Kinda' cool, huh?

Lesson two.
By then I was on a roll.....and I made this into fabric too!

Then we got down to brass tacks and I got out of my comfort zone. I wanted to learn to make flowers that didn't look like I was still in second grade. I think I succeeded! Now I just need to stop copying Carla and make some of my own designs! But now I think I CAN!

A very enjoyable and productive class!

Money Well Spent

What did I splurge on when I got my first Social Security check? Pink Flamingos, of course!
I just LOVE my 'back forty'!

Punny Monday

I like European food so I decided to Russia over there because I was Hungary. After Czech'ing the menu I ordered Turkey. When I was Finnished I told the waiter 'Spain good but there is Norway I could eat another bite'.
(okay, even I groaned at this one.....)

What I'm Reading

Sometimes insomnia and Amazon's '1-click' buying option CAN be a good thing.....
There's no such thing as too many books!

One Hundred Words About Nuts

“You paid HOW much for a container of nuts?”
“Thirty dollars and thirty six cents. But it was for TWO containers!”
“Oh, well, for TWO containers….that makes it okay then.”
“I KNOW! I was stunned too. But by the time she rang them up and told me the total there was someone behind me in line and I was just so stunned all I could do was hand her my debit card.”

We drove home in silence, each of us lost in our own bewildered thoughts regarding the price of things in the world today.

Mother of the Year Award Accepted Here……..

I was having a conversation with Son1 yesterday and in trying to think of a way to illustrate my point I said this:
'Dating is like shoe shopping. Sometimes you buy a pair because they look really good in the window, only to find out they pinch your toes.'

Thank you…..…..I’ll accept that award now! LOL
