Last One......

This is the last one that needs to get 'fuzzed'!!!!
Whew!
Not everyone is a 'fuzzie' aficionado so some have beads/dangles and some have controlled 'fuzzies'.
What a lovely pile they make!
Now on to the closures.........
Then I just need to sign/stamp, number, and add my cards to them..... :(

And I'm thinking of making gift bags to go with them.....just call me a glutton for punishment! lol

Flash Fiction Friday

Mrs. Smith

Mrs. Smith never said a bad word to or about anyone. EVER. It amazed me how she could say nothing. I was more the ‘gum ball’ type. MY thoughts rolled off my tongue before they were fully formed in my mind. (But that’s another story for another time.)
I asked her once why she never had a response to what I thought were some very harsh and unkind words said to her. She just smiled and with a twinkle in her eye said, “Oh, don’t you worry. I have letters I’m leaving to be delivered after I’m gone!”

For weeks after she died I was quite nervous to go to my mailbox…… as far as I know no one got a letter, at least not the ones I thought deserved them.

Yin/Yang

My back is aching from hunching over the table...my hand is throbbing from all the cutting...but it still makes me smile when I see the pile grow!

Flash Fiction Friday

Validation

She was told to report to the 35th floor. When she arrived she was shown into a large corner office with floor to ceiling windows that highlighted the panoramic view of the city skyline. Several men were milling around the desk as she entered. The air seemed to crackle with anticipation.
For as long as she could remember her daydreams had been this exact moment.
She had to admit it was appealing, she found herself tempted.
When she left the building, with her portfolio securely tucked under her arm, she knew she wasn’t going to take the position.
It wasn’t the job she was after.
It was the OFFER.

Validation.

She’s Done

Well, she’s done.
As usual I’m not happy with the end result so I will put her away until I’m not sick of looking at her. Time and distance typically gives me a less biased opinion.
But first I played in Photoshop!

I quite like this last one!

Flash Fiction Friday

Dr. Tormey was the best dentist I ever had. He was a big, handsome white haired man with an infectious smile and a hearty laugh. I think I had a little bit of a crush on him (I think my mother did too!)
He was the kind of ‘let’s wait and see how it pans out’ kind of Dr. and I loved him for it.
His wife was his receptionist. They were a nice couple and I came to think of them as ‘extra’ parents. We would talk about anything and everything.

There was one time when I was having work done that required consecutive visits.  At that same time I had a friend whose life was somewhat of a soap opera. I don’t remember how it started but one visit I began to tell the story of my friend as it was happening. On each subsequent visit they would both ask about what was happening with my friend so I would fill them in on the latest ‘episode’.  I’m pretty sure the dental work didn’t really require that many visits but they wanted to hear how the story was going to end (so did I!)

The office was small, only two rooms for patients and the waiting/reception area. So anything anyone said was heard by all. I would stand in front of the receptionist desk and entertain them with the latest chapter. I noticed that the same patients were always in the waiting room!

Looking back I think that was a turning point for me. I learned there, in that dentist’s office, in front of a live audience what worked and what didn’t. Where the boundaries were, what I could get away with and what wouldn’t fly.

Who knew that would be the birth of my stand up career.

Throwback Thusday

AMENDED 9/8/2016 10:29 A.M. EDT
Oooopsie! Double post from last Thursday....my bad.
I would fix it but.......
1. I've scheduled a months worth of Throwback Thursday's already and it would mess up the order from the original, which would then mess up the order when I have it printed....so.....just ignore that man behind the curtain and go about your daily business!
2. I'm too lazy.
(mostly I'm too lazy.....carry on......)

Another Face

If you read my blog you know I’ve been working on a series of faces in Carla Sonheim’s
‘Y is forYellow’ class. I wanted to try and improve my skill with watercolor and I’ve been struggling and uncomfortable with the process.
This latest face sat prepped and ready for paint on my easel but I kept avoiding it. Then today, as I was passing it for the umpteenth time, an idea popped into my head and I wondered ‘what if?’………
I wonder how my Copic markers would react on top of the Gesso?  Would it ruin the markers? Would they even work on the gesso? Would I be able to blend them?
So I gave it a whirl.
I like it so far.
The markers worked just as well as on card stock, maybe even a bit better when it came to blending.  And this is how it sits on my work table.

This is the point where I get ‘stuck’.
Choices to be made and I’m mired in indecision……What color should her hair be?  What color eyes? I was going to make her glasses a bright red for interest……
Any suggestions greatly appreciated but not necessarily taken…..I’m contrary that way! ;)
