OMG…I’m Even Boring Myself!

I don’t know about you guys, but for some time now I find my posts are getting…..shall we say, less than scintillating. I thought by using the cartoons as ‘fillers’ so to speak, it would give me time to come up with more interesting posts for the other days. Apparently, I was wrong……insert sad face here……

I’ve been thinking about this for a while. Should I just call it a day? Retire the blog? It has been over eight years…..that’s about seven and a half years longer than I expected! LOL

But I don’t think I want to end it altogether. I like having a place to come to and connect with you! And yes, let’s face it, I like ‘showing off’ the things I make and write!

So I’m thinking I’m going to end the cartoons and go back to why I started this space to begin with. Sharing my art and telling stories.

BUT…..I’m going to give myself a break and not post every day. I’m still working on which days or even if it will be set days. And I think I will also do some ‘re-runs’ of previous posts…..maybe…….possibly…….I’m still ruminating on all this and trying to work out in my head what I really want to do……

So, forgive any bumps in the road as I go forward from here. I’ll try my best to get it right!

Prickly

Prickly was the prompt for yesterday. I couldn’t decide between prickly pear or hedgehog so I did both!

I Bit the Bullet

.....ordered the appliances......and went into debt!

But we now have lovely new stainless steel appliances! They didn't have the induction cooktop in stock so we have to wait for that. And I didn't take a picture of the dishwasher because it's still in the box and I didn't think a picture of a box would interest you.

You'll get to see it all once the kitchen is complete (more or less....lol) pretty soon!

I didn't even wait to peel off the protective film I was so excited to show you!
(or for Husband to put the handles on the fridge! LOL)

Why do doctors leave the room when you change? They're going to see you without your clothes on anyway.

Thoughts on a Thursday

How can something be "new" and "improved"? if it's new, what was it improving on?

Inktober 2018

I have been floundering with my art for the past few weeks/months/years…..lol.

I couldn’t decide what online course(s) to take……if any…..

I’d sit down with the urge to paint/sketch/draw but was stymied about WHAT to paint/sketch/draw……I blamed it on the kitchen reno and having all my supplies packed away. But I wasn’t interested in drawing on Tabley either……

So I took a look at Inktober 2018 and kind of backed into it. I was playing around with inkblots (blowing ink with canned air) and then ‘finding’ things in the blots and decided to see if I could incorporate that idea into the Inktober prompts. So far I’ve done 5! (Which, quite frankly, is 4 more than I thought I was capable of!)

Anyway, for those of you who aren’t on Instagram, here they are for your perusal….for you who ARE on Instagram, sorry….this is a re-run!

Prompt #1 poisonous

prompt #2 tranquil

prompt #3 roasted....I couldn't figure out how to make this fit the prompt....oh well....

prompt #4 spell....he was completely under my spell

prompt #5 chicken....went literal with this one (without an inkblot)

We’ll see how long I can stick to it!

I Want Credit for This

I went to Staples today.

Alone.

That’s very important, that I was alone. Because it means I didn’t have any outside influence to keep me on the straight and narrow. No one to keep me ‘in line’ as it were. No one to make me think twice about my purchases. No one to make me feel guilty about feeding my pen addiction. In other words…..I was FREE TO DO AS I DAMN WELL PLEASED!

And yet, as I approached pen nirvana, I hesitated.

And then I walked on by. That’s right, you read that right. I WALKED RIGHT PAST THE PEN ISLE.  I didn’t even glance at them. Not even a peek! I kept right on walking and telling myself I didn’t NEED any more pens until I used up at least some of the ones I already have.

I walked past them to the item I needed, paid for it and walked out of the store!

As I walked to my car I had a feeling of such self righteousness I think I almost levitated above the pavement!

I ACTUALLY went to an office supply store and DIDN’T buy any pens/pencils/markers!

This has to be a first for me. I felt ‘born again’ as it were…..clean and free of an addiction that has been getting exponentially worse for some time now…..until I walked into the house......

I guess I’m not quite ready to leave the twelve step program just yet.

Hello, my name is Robin and I’m a penaholic……

(It doesn't look that bad until you realize these aren't ALL I have.....)

Thoughts on a Thursday

If a baby's leg pops out at 11:59PM but his head doesn't come out until 12:01, which day was he born on?

Shhhhhh, Don't Tell Anyone I Didn't Plan it That Way!

It’s About Where You Draw The Target
By AARON HOWARD
The story is about a prince who becomes a master archer. The prince excels to such a point that he believes he’s the finest archer in the world. On his journey homeward, the prince stops in a small town to get something to drink. Across from the tavern, the prince sees a barn with painted targets along the entire side of the barn. And, there is a single arrow, dead center in every target on the barn.

How could such a master archer be living in this small town? Finally, the prince sees this young boy and asks him. “It was me,” says the boy. “Show me,” demands the prince.

They stand. The boy takes aim. The boy hits the side of the barn, far away from any of the targets. Then, the boy runs into the barn. He emerges with a brush and a can of paint. He paints a solid circle around the arrow he has just shot, then two more circles to form a target.
“That’s how I do it. First, I shoot the arrow, and then I paint the target."

And THIS is what we should ALL remember! No one will ever know you didn't hit the target....unless you tell them!

(note to self: remember this on the days when you feel like you can't even hit the barn!)
