For the past year or so, Husband and I have endeavored to adopt a healthier lifestyle. Eating better, getting more exercise, lots of fruits and veggies, that sort of thing.
And it has worked. We have both lost a nice chunk of weight, and
we feel better. More energetic and quite frankly, very smug! LOL
Because we were feeling so smug, Husband (who is the pillar of restraint, whereas I have absolutely NO willpower whatsoever) decided to bring home a treat for dessert last night.
He brought home Hagen Daaz ice cream.
Chocolate and vanilla. My absolute FAVORITE ice cream of all time!
We also happened to have bananas. Whoo hoo! Banana splits all around!
And in the big bowls!
The bananas were delicious, and the vanilla ice cream was good. But about the time I got around to the chocolate I turned to Husband and said, “I’m done now, it’s too sweet.”
He literally stopped eating, looked at me with wide eyes and said, “Who ARE you and what have you done with my wife?”
Before all this self-righteousness I would have sold my soul for chocolate Hagen Daaz! Now I would rather have some blueberries!
The Mayans were right!
It’s 2012 and the world HAS shifted on its axis! LOL
Chocolate, too sweet?!? Should I tell you my SIL is comptroller for Ben & Jerry's ice cream?
ReplyDeleteIt's not the controllers, I think it's RCW. Her sense of taste has changed - not necessarily for the better! ;)
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I know you don't do awards and neither do I normally but I've awarded you one anyway: http://piadrent.blogspot.com/2012/04/thank-you-ildi.html Do NOT feel any pressure to forward it!! It is just to say your blog makes me smile.
About the chocolate, are you sure this wasn't an April Fools joke!
ReplyDeleteWay to go! I have been trying to eat healthy, but with the Easter chocolate I have in the house it isn't going so well. Oh well, I do hope to start jogging as soon as my doctor says I can return to physical activity... but that may be a while, and until then, I sneak the Easter chocolate. Your mouse post and job offer post both had me chuckling out loud (is that COL?)
ReplyDeleteThanks!
I wish it worked that way for me. I eat pretty well but do love the sweets. I've been gaining weight too which I never really did beyond a certain point in the past. I think I have to put exercise on the list of to-do's as eating right isn't getting me where I want to be. Congrats to you for sticking with it long enough to change your tastebuds!
ReplyDeleteYay!! Yay for YOU!!
ReplyDeleteI quit refined and brown sugar back in January, and it's definitely working weight-wise. I don't find it too hard - it would be worse if I banned cheese from my diet really. But over Easter it's been hard! I ended up munching on dried banana strips while everyone was stuffing themselves with chocolate. And I felt really sorry for myself. But I stuck it out - good for me :) And yes, a lot of things have started to taste sweeter...
Find yourself a new sinful delight, that's what I'm saying - everyone needs a little bit of (tastebud-related) sin in their lives!!
