STAGES OF AN ONLINE CLASS

I started a new class this week, Sketchbook Skool’s The Whimsical Sketchbook. I’m not sure why I signed up for this class, except I thought I needed a kick in the pants to get me back into the ‘groove’.

So far I haven’t put pen/brush to paper but I did write this:

STAGES OF AN ONLINE CLASS
Read description of class
Think about whether or not to take class
Get excited about upcoming class
Sign up and pay for class
Anxiously wait for class to begin
On first day of class, wonder what you were thinking when signing up for class
Watch video/s
Re-watch video/s
Digest video/s
Think about video/s
Worry about not being as good as the instructor
Watch homework assignment video
Freak out about homework assignment video
Spend copious amount of time thinking about the PERFECT topic/theme for homework assignment
Sit down to start homework assignment
Become paralyzed about homework assignment
Walk away from blank paper on desk in defeat of homework assignment
Get scathingly brilliant idea in shower
Sit down and write STAGES OF AN ONLINE CLASS

It's not exactly what I was expecting but at least I got SOMETHING out of the first week......lol.

  1. Wow, I thought this was just me! I do this all the time. Then at the last minute I get something done...and wonder what was wrong with me. I hoped, as I got older, this would stop, but I'm 69 and I'm not sure how much older I need to be! I suspect it's because I'm a perfectionist and not being "perfect" scares the crap out of me. I'm always in awe of the people who have a project done the first day out!

    1. I'm always suspicious of people who have a project done right away after the first lesson.....lol.

  6. Some of us are just late bloomers and just takes us a bit longer to absorb the lessons.

  7. Yup I know that feeling.... trying to stay away from too many online courses - I used to be good at following along, but not any more. Thanks for sharing what you got done in week 1 - I am already looking forward to week 2!

  8. Haha! I know the feeling. I agree about the videos. I spend more time watching YouTube videos than actually doing anything.
