Last Friday I got a message from Blogger telling me:
European Union laws require you to give European Union visitors
information about cookies used and data collected on your blog. In many cases,
these laws also require you to obtain consent.
As a courtesy, we have added a notice on your blog to explain Google's use of certain Blogger and Google cookies, including use of Google Analytics and AdSense cookies, and other data collected by Google.
You are responsible for confirming this notice actually works for your blog, and that it displays. If you employ other cookies, for example by adding third party features, this notice may not work for you. If you include functionality from other providers there may be extra information collected from your users.

Unfortunately
I don’t see the header to which they refer on my blog….so, either I’ve added some
third party doo-dad that is effectively blocking the banner or ‘they’ have
screwed something up. I spent the weekend Googling and conferring with my tech
support to try and figure it out. After two days of this I find I no longer
care…..
So…..consider
yourself informed of the new European laws and that I never share ANY
information with ANY third party.
I have no
idea what Google does……
Also……since
getting this message, your comments no longer forward to my email. So I can’t
reply like I usually do. I prefer to respond to your comments personally in an
email rather than publically on the blog because I can be more personal in an
email.
I’m still
trying to decide whether to just ‘wait it out’ until they figure out they’ve
broken something and fix it so we can get back to business as usual, or, if I
will reply to your comments on the blog.
But I wanted
to let you know what’s happening so you don’t think I’m ignoring you or that I
don’t appreciate all your wonderful remarks!
I DO! I read every one of them, every
day (all five of them, lol!)
So that’s
where it stands for now. I hope it doesn’t stop you from visiting or leaving
comments because I’m kinda’ hooked on them now and if I didn’t get any I’d be
crushed!
Just sayin’…….
Don't worry...it will sort itself out (she says hopefully, lol). We have been BOMBARDED over here with the EU data thing, (been driving me NUTS)... BACK when we were heading into the new millennium, there was a virtual panic about computers not working after the clock clicked into 2000, but what happened...NOTHING HAPPENED, they still worked. Phew.... (no, not really Phew...more OH FOR GOODNESS SAKES!!!). Well, it seems history (or the panic) has hit people with this Data protection update (which comparing it to the so called Old version for Data protection law, isn't much different at all)! Have you gone into your blogger settings, the section where you would have originally chosen to Opt for replying to people by email? Perhaps you just need to 'reclick it and save' just to give it a 'boost as it were'. Only a thought, just in cases ;)
ReplyDeleteI've heard that other bloggers aren't also receiving notification of comments, damn nuisance, but hopefully it's going to be fixed.
ReplyDeleteIndeed, new law came to Europe and my email-box has been filled with mails from thousand and one companies I've dealt with, which declare that my information won't go to a third party.
Delete, delete, delete.
Ditto to the above comments. It’s been a nightmare. I’ve never had so many emails! Dear Corinne/ dear valued customer (if I’m that valued you’d know my name/dear supporter (not anymore!)/dear friend (really??). I’ve ignored most, which I hope means I’ll hear nothing more from them!
ReplyDeleteI’d be very very sad without your musings and artwork and ‘jokes’ (😂😂) xxxx
Hmmm, I've seen this message on my Stats page for a long time now. I don't really worry about it as I see it's really Bloggers problem. However, when I visit some blogs of friends in Europe, I get the disclaimer about EU cookie laws blah, blah, blah. I assume visitors from EU countries will see the same disclaimer on my blog. If not, I don't worry. Maybe I should, but I don't
ReplyDeleteAnd, the fifth voice agrees with all of the above. LOL I would have ignored it...
ReplyDeleteAs you know I haven't been on my blog lately so will deal with it when I have to. I'm fed up with it all. For the most part I just ignore it.
