If Only I Had Listened To My Mother

In lo, these 60 years I’ve learned a lesson or two.
Even successful people have self doubts (and many failures.)

If only I had listened to my mother.

She used to say, ‘Try it! What have you got to lose?’
I would answer, ‘Lose face, be humiliated, and be labeled a failure.’
She would say, ‘So?’

It took me a long time to realize just how wise she was.

  1. My mother liked to say that the older I got the smarter she'd look (to me). 😏

  2. She sounds lovely.
I don't think there's a human alive who hasn't had self doubts at times!

  3. It's true but still so hard to do! I can go ahead and be foolish for my grandkids but not just for me. I was always the kid who stood on the sidelines rather than join in because I might seem silly. How silly is that? The other kids were having fun!

  4. Ahhhhhh the stupid fear of losing face! Can someone invent a flusher for that?
